It was definitely an eventful start to the week at Steel Town Cycles, and it was great meeting new people, speaking with old friends and generally getting a buzz from all the love of cycling that there is out there.
We had a visit from some folks completing the C2C, which runs just 140yds from our shop in Blackhill, Consett. Originating from Canada, South Wales, England and the USA, the party had travelled a fair way, having met on a bicycle trek across Vietnam. They wanted us to check a tyre they had a suspicion wouldn’t make it to Roker Pier. Fortunately we had a tyre in stock which was fitted while they enjoyed a bite to eat at Sweethart’s Coffee and Cake, and before they hit the road, further advice was given on how to do some basic roadworthiness checks on their machines.
The CX training is proceeding slowly but as always the main thing is to enjoy it whatever challenge you decide to set yourself – you can do it, with a bit of perseverance. Cycling is one of those activities that can be enjoyed by such a diverse range of people from children to adults, the novice completing their first 10 mile ride to the seasoned explorer finishing a 130 mile epic over several days or a single day. They all have a love of an essentially very inclusive sport. It doesn’t matter wether you ride a £99 bike or a £9999 bike; we all do it because we love how it makes us feel.
I’d like to take a moment to mention that we have a Facebook shop now and we’ll be popping more items on there in the coming weeks. Ultimately of course, we’d like to meet you so call in. Even if its just for some advice on what lights to buy for your particular need, we’ll try our best to help you out.
